Vitaly Ulitka: There should be competition in telecommunications Industry inside Pridnestrovie

According to the chairman of the Price and Antimonopoly Committee, there should be several telecom service providers in the republic

Vitaly Ulitka expressed such opinion during his interview to the Pridnestrovie’s First Channel and commented on the results of the working visit to Russia where he attended a number of seminars and studied the experience of different countries in this sphere. The visit took place within the Cooperation Memorandum signed in the summer of the last year between the Pridnestrovie’s Price and Antimonopoly Committee and the Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service.

According to Vitaly Ulitka, there should more than four telecom service providers in any territory. It could be very useful for consumers who would benefit from the competition. In our republic the competitive environment already exists, i.e. the Moldova’s telecom providers whose transmitters cover almost all territory of the republic. However, they don’t pay taxes to the state.

«In this case, the state cannot influence the competitors, i.e. the providers from Moldova. The competitive environment already exists, our provider already keeps track of our fixed tariffs in order to keep the consumers," Vitaly Ulitka explained.

He noted that it is necessary to establish certain rules of competitive behavior. «Either the Government, or the regulator should define them. Accordingly, the order and the administrative company domain should be defined and registered taking into account these rules," the chairman of the Price and Antimonopoly Committee emphasized.

According to Vitaly Ulitka, the investments should be invited into this sphere, and at the same time information security should be maintained.
