Mikhail Burla and Andrian Candu discuss socio-economic issues

Chairman of Pridnestrovie's Supreme Council, Mikhail Burla, held a meeting with the head of Moldova's parliament, Andrian Candu on May 18

«The main goal of such meetings lies in the necessity to negotiate and escape conflicts. Only negotiations can provide the main condition for our development — it is peaceful co-existence. Therefore, when negotiating, we proceeded with this point of view. We must do our best to ensure peace on the Dniester banks. The second goal is the opportunity to find solutions to a whole series of the existing issues," underscored Mikhail Burla.

According to the Supreme Council press service, the MPs discussed healthcare and education problems, as well as the potential for implementing joint infrastructure projects in the fields of communication, railways electrification and urgent medical assistance.

«There is no doubt that the issues that we are most of all concerned about have been raised. One of them — mutual recognition of documents — has been discussed for years both at the 5+2 talks and in working groups. I think it is very important. There have been more simplified mechanisms of document recognition before. Now they are rather complicated, and citizens have to waste much time, solving these issues," clarified Mikhail Burla.

Special attention was given to the issues of economic cooperation. In particular, the problems of licensing and certification were addressed. The colleagues also touched upon unresolved issues relating to the conduct of foreign trade since 1 January 2016.

«To solve these problems we shouldn't cooperate at the parliamentary level only, but rather at the level of working groups, which are operating now. It was suggested that Pridnestrovie's and Moldova's chambers of commerce and industry take an active part in this process," said Mikhail Burla.
