Moldovan delegation blocks JCC work

Kishinev's representatives to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) refused to approve the agenda and open a JCC session.

Oleg Belyakov, Pridnestrovie's co-chair in the JCC, said in an interview to Novosti Pridnestrovya that this position of the Moldovan delegation is even more astonishing because the first issue on the agenda proposed by the Russian delegation was the issue relating to the freedom of movement in the Security Zone which has been lobbied by Kishinev for a year.

«First, the Moldovan delegation proposed to exclude 17 reports of the Joint Military Command from the agenda. It was unexpected for us, but we agreed to discuss them at the next session.

However, Moldova's representatives refused to open the session anyway, even though the first item on the agenda was the issue whose inclusion had been lobbied by Moldova. Moldova seems to show no interest in this issue," concluded Oleg Belyakov.

It is recalled that the Moldovan delegation had blocked the work of the JCC for nine months. At the end of January the parties managed to reach the compromise and approve the agenda.
