Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry sent a second request to Chisinau regarding the "law on separatism"

The SIS of Moldova threatens the Pridnestrovian authorities with this law

Tiraspol-Chisinau, January 29. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry sent a new request to the political representative of Moldova, Oleg Serebryan, regarding the draft law on "separatism". In it, the Pridnestrovian side demands to clarify the words of the representative of the Moldovan Information and Security Service (ISS) that the concept of "anti-constitutional subject" will include the authorities of the PMR - in particular, the structures of the Government and the Supreme Council.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev spoke about this in an interview with the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel.

“The representative of the SIS at the hearings in the Parliament of Moldova confirmed this publicly, officially. I sent a message to Mr. Serebryan. Maybe he is not familiar with the quote from the SIS representative. It directly points to the repressive, politicized nature of the bill and contradicts the assertions that this bill will not interfere with the negotiation process [of Tiraspol and Chisinau],” the PMR Foreign Minister stressed.

It should be noted that the Moldovan Parliament plans to adopt the so-called law on "separatism" in the final reading as early as next week. These are amendments that introduce new articles into the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova - in particular, "Conspiracy against Moldova" (from 2 to 7 years in prison) and "Separatism". Also, such concepts as “anti-constitutional subject” and “illegal information structure” are fixed in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova. In the latter case, we are talking about a structure that will collect information “constituting a state secret” or “other information that may harm Moldova” (the content of this second concept is not disclosed). The creation of an "illegal information structure" is punishable by 7 to 10 years in prison.

As for "separatism", from 2 to 5 years in prison are expected for such calls. A fine of 35 to 75 thousand lei is expected for "incitement". From 7 to 12 years in prison are expected for calls for "separatism" with the use of violence. From 6 to 12 years or a fine from 600 to 750 thousand lei is expected for financing "separatism".

PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev has repeatedly noted that the proposed bill is a challenge and a threat to the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian negotiation process.
