Yevgeny Shevchuk: we are supporting Russia through active participation in elections

The president of the PMR voted at Russia's State Duma election

Tiraspol, 18 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Russian citizens residing in Pridnestrovie are taking part in Russia's State Duma election. There are 22 polling stations available in the republic and nine of them are in Tiraspol. Pridnestrovian President Yevgeny Shevchuk with his family voted at one of them (№ 8206), situated in the House of Officers.

«Today [we have an opportunity] to show unity with the whole country — with Great Russia. An opportunity to choose and support the way we have seen in the past 10−15 years of the development of the Russian Federation by voting the parties and the candidates who have been developing the Russian Federation and helping Pridnestrovie for many years," the president told journalists.

Yevgeny Shevchuk underscored that the State Duma election was a very important political event for Pridnestrovie and forecast a high voter turnout.

The president also expressed support for the Russian Federation, which, according to him, is in «semi-blockade».

"The Russian Federation is now in difficult conditions, in a kind of 'semi-blockade'. We empathise [with Russian people] because we know what the blockade — we ourselves have been in an especially tight blockade for the past 10−15 years. We understand that Russia is facing hard times now; therefore, we are supporting the Russian Federation as its citizens through active participation in the election," concluded the president.
