OSCE WILL HELP IN SOLUTION OF THE POLITICALLY MOTIVATED CRIMINAL CASES PROBLEM

Next week the OSCE Mission will send the letter to the Attorney General of Moldova

Bendery, May 11. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Politically motivated criminal cases in Moldova against the citizens of Pridnestrovie are one of the most important issues of the negotiation process. It was noted by the special representative of the acting chairman of the OSCE Franco Frattini.

«Next week the OSCE Mission will send the letter to the Attorney General of Moldova with a request to report about the number of existed criminal cases and their offences. It will be the beginning of monitoring which we will carry out together with the Attorney General's Office as it is necessary to resolve this issue», - Frattini told.

As for 2019 in Moldova, there are more than 200 politically motivated criminal cases against public officials, businessmen and other residents of Pridnestrovie. Firstly the Pridnestrovian militiamen, then other officials appeared under the criminal prosecution for carrying out their functions: Moldova considers it as «assignment of powers».

For the last years, Pridnestrovie repeatedly took the initiative about the mutual termination of the criminal cases. In spite of the fact that the obligation to start a solution contains in relevant arrangements of the negotiation process, Chisinau significantly has not changed the position on the matter. The problem of the criminal cases is one of priority in the negotiation agenda of 2019.
