Vadim Krasnoselsky: History teaches us how fragile peace is

The President of the PMR addressed the Pridnestrovians on the Day of the Beginning of the Great Patriotic War

Tiraspol, June 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed the Pridnestrovians on the occasion of the Day of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

We present the text of the address without changes:

"Dear Pridnestrovians!

The treacherous attack of Nazi Germany and its allies on the USSR took place on June 22, 1941. The enemy quickly advanced across the territory of the Soviet Union, and soon the Nazis were already standing near Moscow and Leningrad.

However, Hitler's plan for a blitzkrieg, known as the Barbarossa plan, failed.

From the first days of the war, the Soviet people rose up in a single impulse to fight the invaders. Soviet citizens volunteered massively for the front, replenished the ranks of the militia, heroically fought in partisan detachments, and resisted the occupiers in the underground.

The fascists were stopped, a counteroffensive and further advance of Soviet troops to the West began. Then came the complete and unconditional capitulation of Germany. Nazi criminals faced an international trial and were convicted at the Nuremberg Tribunal, as well as during the Bucharest Trials.

History teaches us what tragedies can result from preaching hatred towards people of a different nationality, supported by aggressive policies, history teaches us how fragile peace is.

Eternal glory to the soldiers-liberators!

Eternal memory to those who died in battles for the Motherland!"
