On 28 April Great Patriotic War Veterans to be presented with anniversary medals of Russia and Pridnestrovie

That was discussed during a meeting between President Yevgeny Shevchuk and Russian Ambassador to Moldova Farit Mukhmetishin

Attention was given to the organisation of joint celebration of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. On 28 April the Great Patriotic War veterans are expected to be solemnly presented with Russian and Pridnestrovian anniversary medals.

We recall that the 70 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941−1945 medal was instituted by the presidential decree this January. Besides, the president made a decision to assign means from extrabudgetary sources for providing additional material assistance to the veterans — 570 roubles per a grantee. Financial assistance will be granted to participants in military operations, Great Patriotic War disabled veterans, former prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos and other detention facilities organised by the Nazis and their allies during World War II. The veterans, citizens of Russia, will be given Russia's material assistance as well, the president's press service reports.

The president expressed gratitude to Russia for its consideration for the Great Patriotic War veterans, citizens of Russia, residing in Pridnestrovie. «This consideration is especially valuable in the year of the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. I know the Pridnestrovian community is very attentive to these arrangements. This holiday has a special place in veterans' lives," underscored Yevgeny Shevchuk.
