A working discussion of the PMR President and representatives of Pridnestrovian State University named after Taras Shevchenko was held in the conference room of the Administration of the PMR President. The Head of the Administration of the PMR President Sergey Belous, State Advisor to the PMR President Anna Volkova and the President of PSU Stepan Beril were invited to the conversation in addition to the management of the university. They talked about the importance of students receiving double diplomas – Pridnestrovian and Russian diplomas. This is an important motivational factor for attracting school graduates to PSU, the representatives of the university emphasized. There is a decrease in the number of applicants at this stage, there are unclaimed specialties and small groups, which often have to be closed by the second or third year. The problem of "free diplomas" – unemployed graduates – also remains.
The President was informed that this state of affairs is fraught with difficulties in obtaining Russian accreditation for the educational activities of PSU in addition to unjustified government spending. Institutes and faculties are required to have a certain number of students to maintain the corresponding status. Another important point is the costs of licensing educational programs. There are currently 315 of them. The analysis showed that there is duplication and excessive fragmentation of areas – it is necessary to consolidate groups by combining programs with similar profiles. Other options for reorganization measures were also discussed. They will be worked out without delay. It cannot be delayed, emphasized Vadim Krasnoselsky. He recalled that the state is creating the most comfortable conditions for the education of Pridnestrovian youth in the country. Colossal work has been done to recognize PSU diplomas. These efforts should not be in vain, the PMR President set the task.
