Yevgeny Shevchuk: Pridnestrovie has always advocated for good-neighbourhood

Pridnestrovie's President touched the relations with neighbors, in particular with Moldova and Ukraine, during his conversation with journalists and told that Pridnestrovie advocates the idea «not to create additional barriers and conditions for tension in order to avoid the concentration of troops at the borders».

«It is absurd to engineer additional problems for economy of our neighbors when there are world and regional crisis, poverty is growing, so it is not a clever move to fuel poverty, in my opinion. In this context, our partners both in Moldova and Ukraine have been always recommended and urged to consider possible constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic sphere first of all. Accordingly, everything that our partners in Kishinev try to undertake today, in my view, is unconstructive, confrontational, especially when one side prohibits border crossing for certain categories of vehicles and when obscure certification and licensing procedures are introduced. We should take more constructive steps on the railway issue, that is not to overrate tariffs, but to decide together how to reduce them and to increase scope of deliveries," Yevgeny Shevchuk emphasized.

The Head of state emphasized that «blockade rhetoric» meant the return to the past. Pridnestrovie is open for negotiations on mutually satisfactory terms based on certain concessions.

«The economies of both Moldova and neighboring regions of Ukraine will benefit from it. Economic experts understand it. Political problems just prevent our work in such constructive way. We offered Moldova's leadership some options in this context, that is, removing certain barriers, we can provide economic GDP growth both in Moldova and Pridnestrovie and to improve the economic state of the neighbouring regions in Ukraine. We don't see any clear response to the economic cooperation just yet," Yevgeny Shevchuk told.
