Italian businessmen visit Pridnestrovie

The delegation met the Pridnestrovian foreign to discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas

Tiraspol, 27 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The foreign minister, Vitaly Ignatyev, met Italian businessmen, representing the leadership of the Italy-BRICS Association, Matteo Peggio and Igor Camilli. The meeting was also attended by the head of the Bendery city council, Yuri Kara, the ministry's press service reports.

Welcoming the guests, Vitaly Ignatyev noted the traditionally significant level of trade and industrial relations between Italy and Pridnestrovie.

"Italy permanently ranks fifth among major trade and economic partners of our country. Besides, a cooperation agreement was signed in 2016 between the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of the PMR and the Moldo-Italian Chamber," noted the diplomat.

The interlocutors discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas. In particular, there was an exchange of views on the possibility of implementing a number of joint economic and cultural projects, as well as projects in the political, diplomatic and information spheres.

The minister focused on Pridnestrovie's interest in Italia's active steps in the Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement in the context of the forthcoming Italian OSCE chairmanship in 2018.

At the end of the meeting the parties agreed to maintain cooperation on a wide range of practical areas of mutual interest.
