The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky received the delegation of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, headed by the Special Representative of the Chairman-in-Office for the Pridnestrovian Settlement Thomas Lenk. The PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and the Advisor to the PMR President Pavel Prokudin were invited to the conversation from the Pridnestrovian side.
Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized while welcoming the guests that Pridnestrovie appreciates the mediating role of the OSCE in relations with Moldova and in organizing the negotiation process, which currently has serious problems, according to the PMR President. "I see that some participants in the "5+2" format want to pass off a bad game as a good one, claiming that there is a negotiation process in the absence of work in the "5+2" format. I cannot agree with this. The most that happens is an exchange of opinions between certain officials. This is not a negotiation process. I am convinced that the disruption of the negotiation process, its stagnation is deliberate," Vadim Krasnoselsky stated. He emphasized that the position of Pridnestrovie is unchanged: the republic officially supports unfreezing the "5+2" format. The President recalled that this platform is not only internationally recognized, but also proven its effectiveness. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that "5+2" set the rhythm for the functioning of all negotiation mechanisms. "As world history shows, everyone returns to the negotiating table sooner or later. The OSCE plays a great role in this complex negotiation structure. With your high authority, your diplomacy, you can contribute to the negotiation process," Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized, calling for a unification of efforts to move the issue from dead point. He recalled the areas that require immediate attention: ensuring peace and security, preventing any kind of provocation, the economy, respect for human rights, and much more.
Thomas Lenk noted the attention to Pridnestrovie from the international community – numerous visits by foreign diplomats. “It is always better to meet in person. You always get the chance to learn something and to understand better how we can help in the process”, the European diplomat noted. According to Thomas Lenk, he continues to communicate with all partners and sincerely hopes that the moment will come when we can all sit at the negotiating table again. “We need to try to do as much as possible in a bilateral format in the meantime” the diplomat noted.
The interlocutors indicated their intention to dedicate the meeting to discussing specific issues.
