Ukraine imposes unilateral restrictions for importation of excisable goods via Slobodka Export railway station

Tiraspol, 12 July. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Ukraine has imposed unilateral restrictions for the importation of excisable goods through Slobodka railway station. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR believes this is the next step leading to the establishment of a full blockade of the country and, in a sense, a rehearsal prior to establishing Moldo-Ukrainian control at the Kuchurgan checkpoint.

«These actions are part of measures aimed at suffocating Pridnestrovie — imposing a full economic blockade. In this sense the ban on importation through the Slobodka Export station is within the general context of the actions taken by Moldova and Ukraine," said a deputy foreign minister, Igor Shornikov, in an interview with PGTRK journalists.

Back in May 2015 a ban was put on the importation of excisable goods via the Kuchurgan and Platonovo checkpoints. In January 2016 Moldova and Ukraine unilaterally changed the railway scheme of importing cargoes to Pridnestrovie.

«The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is making systemic efforts to regulate the existing situation. This issue was thus discussed during a visit of Russia's governmental delegation, led by Dmitry O. Rogozin. The same issue is under consideration of expert working groups and the 5+2 format," said Igor Shornikov.

Pridnestrovie's MFA will request participants of the negotiation process to make Moldova and Ukraine abide by the existing agreements. Also the problem of railway importation to Pridnestrovie is to be raised at Bavaria's confidence building conference.
