Vadim Krasnoselsky and Grigory Karasin discuss strengthening of direct interaction between Pridnestrovian and Russian ministries

Special attention was given to the current state of affairs in the negotiations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova

Tiraspol, 26 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Within the framework of the official visit of the leadership of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to Moscow, President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky held a meeting with Russia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin.

The meeting was also attended by the acting foreign minister of Pridnestrovie, Vitaly Ignatyev. The Russian side was also represented by Ambassador at large Sergey Gubarev and Deputy Director of the Second Department of CIS Countries of the MFA Vitaly Trypitsyn.

According to the president's press service, special attention was paid to the current state of affairs in the negotiations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Vadim Krasnoselsky stressed the advisability of an early settlement in relations with Moldova of a range of acute socio-humanitarian issues, some of which have been set down in the protocol on the outcome of the meeting of the «Permanent conference…», which was held on 2−3 June in Berlin, the so-called Berlin Protocol.

According to the president, the problem of rail freight traffic also retains high relevance. In this context, the president expressed confidence that the traditionally active participation of the Russian side in the negotiation process would continue to promote pragmatic and substantive dialogue at all levels, including meetings of expert (working) groups, political negotiators and the «Permanent conference…» in the «5+2» format. The sides also exchanged views on the current regional situation around Pridnestrovie.

Special attention was given to the practical development of interaction between Russia and Pridnestrovie in various areas. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasised Pridnestrovie’s high interest in the intensification and further consolidation of direct inter-agency interaction, as well as seeking new mechanisms for economic and socio-humanitarian cooperation.

The Pridnestrovian side also put forward a number of initiatives to be implemented during the upcoming celebration of the 25th anniversary of Russia's peacekeeping mission on the Dniester.

At the end of the meeting, the sides confirmed mutual readiness to discuss all issues of common interest in the context of the development of bilateral relations between Pridnestrovie and Russia.
