Problems in the banking sector were discussed in the course of the meeting of the Security Council. The PRB Chairman Vladislav Tidva said that to date, the restrictive measures from the Republic of Moldova have affected almost two dozen Pridnestrovian enterprises. If last year it was a question of closing accounts in Moldovan banks and a ban on opening, then in the current economic entities of Pridnestrovie faced the impossibility of paying for goods and services produced in the neighboring republic, as well as replenishing their accounts in banks of Moldova. The arguments of the Moldovan side, based on the fight against “money laundering”, are unfounded, the Head of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank emphasized, since all the conditions and requirements of Moldovan banks are unconditionally fulfilled by Pridnestrovian economic entities. Vladislav Tidva drew attention to the unconstructive position of the National Bank of Moldova.

Members of the PMR Security Council discussed the current state of affairs, possible risks associated with the further operation of restrictive measures, and the steps taken by the Pridnestrovian side. It concerned involving representatives of the international community in the discussion of this issue. Vladislav Tidva announced the meeting of the profile expert group scheduled for March 10.

Vadim Krasnoselsky, recalling that the PMR is the only states of the unrecognized that has its own currency, emphasized that the republic will not allow it to be pulled into the lei zone. Own currency is a guarantee of security and protection against corruption inherent in neighboring states, the PMR President noted. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke of criminal liability for obstructing legitimate business activities. The President considers it appropriate to appeal to the courts, Moldovan and European, on each of the facts of violation of the rights of Pridnestrovian entrepreneurs. In addition, Vadim Krasnoselsky instructed the relevant departments to prepare appeals to Russian Government agencies. This is extremely important, given that 220000 Russian citizens live on the territory of Pridnestrovie, whose rights and interests are violated, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized. Another instruction: to inform the international community about Moldova’s violation of the decisions on the participation of Pridnestrovie in DCFTA and the contradiction of its actions to the conclusions of Berlin Economics, which require settlements through Moldovan banks.

Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that he always support separation of economics and politics, noting that today there is a clear mix of them. The main conclusion made by members of the Security Council on the results of the discussion of the banking issue: Pridnestrovie must take all possible measures to reduce its dependence on the banking system of Moldova. The meeting participants discussed various proposals and outlined a plan for further work in this direction.
