Ignatyev: Pridnestrovie has long been part of the established regional system of international relations

This was stated by Pridnestrovian foreign minister Vitaly Ignatyev in an interview with Eastbook.eu

Tiraspol, 17 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The minister of foreign affairs of the PMR, Vitaly Ignatiev, answered the questions of an Eastbook.eu correspondent, the ministry's press service reports. A wide range of issues was touched upon during the interview, including the history of the Moldo-Pridnestrovian negotiation process, the relationship between Pridnestrovie and Russia, Ukraine and the European Union, certain aspects of the peacekeeping operation, and the goals and objectives of the PMR's foreign policy.

In addition, Vitaly Ignatyev elaborated on the historical and legal background of Pridnestrovie's independence, noting that the creation of the Pridnestrovian state had fully complied with the fundamental principles of the international law and the will of the country's inhabitants, expressed in nation-wide referendums. In this context, the diplomat also recalled the referendum of 2006, the results of which confirmed the desire of the Pridnestrovians to build their own state with subsequent free accession to the Russian Federation.

"We have actually lived independently for 28 years. I think this is enough for the international community to see that Pridnestrovie is a full-fledged state which is capable of surviving in difficult circumstances and has long been part of the established regional system of international relations. You cannot ignore the factor of Pridnesgtrovie," concluded the diplomat.
