The PMR President received an American delegation
30 Jan., 2026, 11:02Vadim Krasnoselsky met with Christopher Smith, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Eastern European and Political Affairs and Regional Affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. U.S. Chargé d'Affaires a.i. in the Republic of Moldova Nick Petrovich was Among those accompanying the American diplomat. The host party was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Neagu and Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev in addition to the PMR President.

Welcoming the members of the American delegation, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the role of the United States in the international agenda, spoke about the importance of peacekeeping, and the commitment of the Pridnestrovian people to the principles of peaceful coexistence. "The Pridnestrovian people have experienced many tragedies, victories, and catastrophes – everything is in their history, but they have not become embittered, on the contrary. Everyone talks about peace, not war. Achieving peace on the banks of the Dniester is of great value. We must continue the negotiation process along these lines. There is a lot of issues beyond ensuring peace: the economy, law enforcement, and the environment. They directly impact the well-being of people living both in Pridnestrovie and Moldova," the President of the PMR emphasized. He also emphasized that resolving current problems is impossible without dialogue, and resolving the conflict as a whole is impossible without a full-fledged negotiation process. Vadim Krasnoselsky called Moldova's artificial suspension of the "Permanent Conference..." since 2019 a challenge to all participants in the "5+2" format, noting that the intent, in his opinion, was to exclude Pridnestrovie from the negotiation process. The PMR President considers attempts to resolve the republic's fate without the participation of the Pridnestrovian people futile and unacceptable. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the prolonged absence of high-level negotiations, emphasizing that this is not a reproach, but rather a regret. He reaffirmed his desire and readiness for dialogue. Regarding today's meeting, Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed confidence that it will be filled with practical content, in keeping with the best traditions of interaction with American diplomats.
Christopher Smith noted in turn that he is committed to a productive, substantive discussion.
