Vadim Krasnoselsky discusses negotiating process prospects with Russia's ambassador at large Sergey Gubarev

Tiraspol, 14 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Vadim Krasnoselsky has met today Russia's ambassador at large Sergey Gubarev, the presidential press service reports. According to the president, the republic is ready to discuss all the questions with the Russian side as the main guarantor of the settlement between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The president also recalled that many meetings had already been held — with representatives of the OSCE and the European Union, ambassadors of various states, Moldovan president Igor Dodon.

«Despite the fact these meetings are largely introductory, significant issues are nevertheless raised during them. Besides, aspects which are constantly lobbied by the Moldovan side are discussed. There are lots of nuances that reduce the efficiency of the negotiating process. I'd like to know your position and enlist your support," noted Vadim Krasnoselsky during the meeting with representatives of the Russian delegation led by Sergey Gubarev.

The diplomat, in turn, said he was glad to visit Tiraspol again, where he feels quite at home. «I am glad the pause has been overcome. I want to hope it will be overcome in the negotiating process as well," underscored Sergey Gubarev. He confirmed that the negotiating process does not go smoothly due to objective and subjective reasons, expressing satisfaction over its resumption.

«Yesterday and today I held meetings with Messrs Bălan, Vasilii Șova, as well as the head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Michael Scanlan. I am sincerely pleased with the readiness of the Moldovan side to start intensive negotiations. We have discussed today with Mr Bălan some practical issues, and I think we are close to finding a mutually acceptable solution," said the Russian diplomat.

Speaking about Russia's position, Sergey Gubarev emphasised its immutability. He recalled the recent statement by Vladimir Putin that Russia meets and will meet the commitments of a mediator in settling Moldo-Pridnestrovian relations, a guarantor of the agreements reached during the negotiating process.

«We are in favour of continuing the negotiating process, no matter how difficult it might be, and for maintaining the 5+2 platform," Vadim Krasnoselsky assured the Russian guests.
