'We will always remember those who upheld life and freedom for future generations'

President Vadim Krasnoselsky has appealed to the Pridnestrovians on the Day of Memory and Sorrow

Tiraspol, 1 August. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Vadim Krasnoselsky appealed to the Transdniestrians on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow.

"On this sorrowful day, we remember the tragic pages of the history of our state when the armed aggression of the Republic of Moldova claimed 804 lives and broke the destinies of thousands of Pridnestrovian citizens," the head of state said.

According to the president, the Pridnestrovians put up a united front to defend their families, to protect Pridnestrovie. Without sparing their lives, they managed to hold up in this unequal struggle and preserved the independence of the young state, Vadim Krasnoselsky said.

"The war was a huge tragedy for the people of Pridnestrovie, bringing the pain of the irreplaceable loss of loved ones. The defenders of Pridnestrovie performed a feat of courage and fortitude, set an example of high patriotism, shielding their homeland from mortal danger. We will always remember those who upheld life and freedom for future generations," the president's address says.

The head of state expressed his condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims in those terrible years.
